Are you a natural born speaker? How to present in a good way~

If you only can choose 1 skill to learn, then I will say "presentation skill" is a must have. I do learn about this skill some time before graduate and I feel lucky with my choice. Setelah beberapa tahun berkarir, all of my job required this skill and I think it's good to share how it looks like from a 過來人 perspective :) People said you will understand something after go through it - yes, I feel it.

What is the different within presentation & communication? 

Presentation most likely you are transferring some information to audience with some visual display which content some business update, some knowledge, or some sharing. While communication is fully by verbal only. In simple way we can say, presentation including communication. 

What is the standard of presentation?

Two type of presentation : to reporting or to presenting. To reporting - you need to put as detail as possible in the slide on a tidy way. To presenting - you only need to put necessary things and don't add so much wording as you will present it and explain it verbally. 

The basic sequence of presentation are : Cover - agenda - content - summary - closing. But the sequence is adjustable based on needed and culture. 

Give you some example. In manufacturing industry the minimum standard of information deliver should be numerically - wording is topping only, in some young industry it should be more wording. So if you ask the standard of presentation, I can say, based on your needed & based on company culture. 

You can't judge someone presentation good or bad based on comparison to the presentation you ever look before. 

Karena industri yang berbeda juga akan punya standard yang berbeda jadi gak bisa dibilang normally presentation looks like seperti apa, karena gak ada normally itu semua tergantung sama company culture. 

How to present?

1. Know the content well - better to make your presentation by yourself so you are fully in control and understand about what you going to present 
2. Use the language you are comfortable with - kalau misalnya presentasi dengan bahasa asing, choose the vocabulary you are familiar with jadi gak kelamaan mikir mau nyampein apa dan orang yang denger pun mengerti 
3. Give intonation - ini penting biar audience gak ngantuk, di point - point penting harus ada penekanan 
4. Eye contact - if you are too nervouse to have eye contact with your audience, then give the focus on their forehead *tips 
5. Don't be glued on the slide - avoid too always look on the slide and 
6. Use pointer to move the slide 
7. Your gesture is a point also 

How to practice to be a speaker?

1. Do voice recording and match it with the duration you need 
2. Read it several times so you are truly mastering your content

How to avoid some failure during presentation :

1. Make sure the equipment run well 
2. Don't be nervous
3. Dress properly, not over-dressed
